Horndean Tyres Attend Yokohama Summer Test Drive Event

Horndean Tyres had the pleasure of being invited to the Yokohama summer test drive event 2018 at the fantastic Nürburgring in Germany.

Our staff had the opportunity to compare various Yokohama tyres to competitors on several different surfaces and in different vehicles.

Firstly we had the chance to test the Yokohama ADVAN Sport V105 in a BMW M5, then we moved on to the ADVAN A052 equipped Subaru WRX STI. Both of these tests were taken out on the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit against the competitors and delivered fantastic results.

We then moved on to testing off-road tyres, comparing the GEOLANDER M/T G003 vs. the GEOLANDER A/T G015, which both gave fantastic results, but we felt the GEOLANDER A/T G015 was surprisingly impressive on the terrain.

Next up was time to test out the Yokohama all-weather tyres. Firstly we tested the BluEarth-4S AW21 vs. competitors. This test included a dry slalom straight into a 60kph emergency stop. The Yokohama BluEarth-4S AW21 gave great steering feedback and an impressively short stopping distance vs. the competitors.

After this, we tested the same tyre on a wet test surface, and once again the Yokohama BluEarth-4S AW21 was very impressive given the conditions. Compared to the competitors, we felt the Yokohama was far better than competitor 1, and similar if not slightly better than competitor 2.

Finally, it was time to test Yokohama’s line-up of passenger car tyres on the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit. This test included the ADVAN Sport V105 vs. competitors in a BMW 3 Series. We tested these tyres against the competitors comparable tyre, and the Yokohama gave great steering feedback and stability, and we were impressed.

Next was the Yokohama BluEarth RV-02 in a Mazda CX-5 SUV. We compared this tyre to 1 other competitor and given the size and weight of the vehicle, we were very happy with the results and surprised with the handling and stability of the vehicle.

Overall, we learnt a lot about the Yokohama product. We can have confidence in selling this product to our customers and having first hand experience gives us the ultimate knowledge to help you chose the right tyre.
